Title: Constraining physical properties of neutron stars through their observations
Date/Time: May 9, 2019 / 13.40-14.30
Place: FENS L061
Abstract:In this talk, I will briefly summarize our efforts on understanding the extreme physical conditions that occur in or around neutron stars, through astrophysical observations. I divide the talk into two connected sections: In the first part I will provide information about modeling the surface emission of neutron stars, emphasizing our efforts. In the second part I will concentrate on how we make use of the observations of the surface emission of neutron stars to probe some of the physical properties of these fascinating astrophysical objects, including their magnetic field strengths and inner composition. I finalize with a future perspective of how we plan to continue these efforts.
